Kill Bill Vol. 1 Review by Dylan
Kill Bill Vol. 1 is the first half of the revenge story of The Bride, played by Uma Thurman (Pulp Fiction, My Super Ex-Girlfriend.) The character of the bride was written by Uma and Quentin Tarantino, the rest of the film written and directed by Tarantino.
The Bride is set on a tale of vengeance to kill bill and the rest of those responsible for attempting to murder and murdering her un-born child and everyone else that was attending her wedding rehearsal. She awakes four years after to terrible events in a hospital as she was in a coma, setting out to seek her revenge.
Uma does a fantastic job portraying the bride, giving the character more emotion and depth than a film of this type usually receives, giving you the weak and hurt side of hr character as well as being able to play the tough murderous hell bent on revenge women that she is. David Carradine (Crank: High Voltage, Big Stan) plays Bill brilliantly, although never seen on screen with more than his hand. Lucy Liu (Charlie's Angels) takes on the character of O-Ren Ishii, with much simplistic fashion. The rest of the cast is brilliant is there on way, not a single piece of acting in this movie falls below great, Daryl Hannah (A Walk to Remember) as Elle Driver particularly stuck out to be as some of the finest acting in the film.
As with previous Tarantino films the production is fantastic and one of the greatest aspects of the film. Everything from the costumes to the set design is fantastic. The style here is in fair chunks of brilliant to, the editing with the cinematography is beautiful, the soundtrack is memorable and ties in with the film like many others don't and little other aspects that you'll experience when watching the film will make you release that some thought and effort has gone on around here, to make sure this isn't just a good story, but a stylish one to.
Kill Vol. 1 isn't a perfect film, but is a fantastic piece of cinema. If you haven't already checked out Kill Bill Vol. 1 go out and do it now, the ride is exciting and interesting.
